WHY KOREANS ARE exists to explain modern Korea accurately, clearly and in context.

Our approach

I connect observable behaviour to history, public policy, institutions and economic incentives. I avoid presenting one person’s experience as representative of an entire country, and I distinguish reporting from interpretation.

Sources and verification

Priority goes to primary documents, official statistics, laws and regulations, academic research, international organisations such as the OECD and World Bank, and clearly attributable reporting. Each article links its main sources at the bottom. Before publication I check that figures match the source, that the year and population of each statistic are stated, and that Korean terms are explained rather than loosely translated. When evidence is incomplete or contested, I say so. Translations aim to preserve meaning and context instead of forcing a literal rendering.

Updating published articles

Rules, fees and statistics change. I revisit articles when new official data is released or when readers point out changes, and I update the text and sources. Articles about rules or procedures should be read as of their publication or update date, and should always be checked against current official guidance.

Independence and conflicts

Editorial conclusions are not for sale. Advertising served by Google AdSense, if shown, does not influence what is written. Sponsored material, affiliate relationships or meaningful conflicts of interest will be disclosed clearly if they are introduced in the future.

Corrections

I correct substantive factual errors promptly and transparently. Minor spelling, formatting or clarity edits may be made without a formal note when they do not change the meaning of a piece. Correction requests can be submitted through the Contact page.

AI and editorial responsibility

Automated tools, including AI tools, may assist with research organisation, transcription, translation, drafting or production. A human editor remains responsible for the claims, framing and final published work.
